Breast Implant: Enhancing Shape and Volume

Breast implant surgery, also known as breast augmentation or augmentation mammaplasty, is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to enhance breast size and shape. This operation can help women achieve their desired silhouette and boost self- confidence.

Breast implant surgery is a procedure that involves placing silicone or saline implants either behind the breast tissue or under the chest muscle to increase breast size and enhance shape. Performed under general anesthesia, the surgery typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the specific technique used.

How long do breast implants last?

New-generation silicone implants are designed for long-term use and do not have a predetermined expiration date. These implants can potentially last a lifetime without requiring replacement. Dr. CBS recommends replacement or removal only if complications arise or if the patient’s aesthetic goals significantly change. Regular check- ups are still advised to monitor implant integrity and overall breast health, but routine replacement after a certain time period is not necessary for these advanced implants.

Will breast implants affect my ability to breastfeed?

No, breast implants do not affect your ability to breastfeed if there are no complications after the surgery. The implants are typically placed beneath the breast tissue or chest muscle, which doesn’t interfere with the milk ducts or glands. However, it’s important to discuss any future pregnancy plans as it may change the breast shape.

Is under-the-muscle or over-the-muscle implant placement better?

There is no universally “better” option. My personal approach is to choose over-the- muscle (sub-fascial) placement if there is enough breast tissue to ensure a natural result. If I determine that there isn’t sufficient breast tissue for a natural look with over-the- muscle placement, I opt for under-the-muscle placement. The decision also depends on desired outcome.

Can I still have mammograms with breast implants?

Yes, you can and should continue to have regular mammograms. Inform the technician about your implants so they can use appropriate techniques to get clear images.

What size implants should I choose?

The best implant size depends on your body frame, existing breast tissue, and personal goals. We will help you choose a size that looks natural and proportionate to your body during your consultation in Istanbul.
