Who performs brow lift surgery?
Brow lift surgery is performed by a plastic surgeon.
What happens during brow lift surgery?
Depending on your treatment goals, specific needs, and medical history, different types of brow lift techniques are available. The best type of brow lift surgery for a particular patient depends on the severity of brow sagging, the patient’s hair density, and the desired outcome.
- Open Forehead Lift: involves a single, horizontal incision across the forehead from hairline to hairline for patients with significant skin laxity and drooping brows
- Endoscopic Forehead Lift: uses small, hidden incisions behind the hairline and an endoscope (specialized camera for visualization) to elevate the brows
- Direct Brow Lift: involves incisions above or between the eyebrows for patients with moderate brow sagging and who want a more subtle result
- Temporal Brow Lift: involves incisions at the outer corners of the eyelids to lift the lateral brows, creating a more arched appearance
- Trichophytic Brow Lift: involves small, hair-like incisions that follow the natural lines of the forehead
- Transblepharoplasty Brow Lift: combines a brow lift with eyelid surgery
The procedure usually takes around one to three hours. Most patients return to normal activities with a week provided post-procedure supportive care measures are followed. Bruising and swelling around the forehead, brows, and possibly under the eyes are common but normally improve after one to two weeks. The provider may also insert a small, temporary tube along the incision site to drain excess blood or fluid.
